Brand name laptops...what you should know. Did you know virtually none of the "name" brands manufacturer their own laptops? The only exception being Asus. Instead they buy their laptops from companies who are known as Original Design Manufacturers (ODM). These companies sell their laptops to several OEM's (like Rizeon, Sony, Lenovo, Dell, Toshiba, HP, Rockdirect, Evesham, Advent...) who then install the processor, hard drive, memory and operating system. They put their labels on it, market it and service it. For example a company called Compal makes some of the Dell and Hp line of laptops among others. They also make the Rizeon JHT00. Compal are the 2nd largest laptop ODM in the world and are regarded for making high quality notebooks. Asus, who are known for their high quality line of desktop motherboards and other components make their own laptops as well as for several other companies. They also make the Rizeon S37V, Rizeon S97V-GS and also the Rizeon S97V-GT. There are other ODM's like Quanta, ECS/Uniwill, FIC, Aopen and Mitac among others. These aren't exactly what you would call "Brand names" however their laptops are popping up everywhere with "Brand names" on them. So you get the point. When buying a laptop also look for the components installed and the reliability of those. What service and support are you getting? What warranty will you get? If you take an extended warranty option is it insurance backed? Compare spec for spec. Rizeon sell high specification laptops only using the most up to date technology around. |
